Appalachian Kennels has a great trainer that we partner with if you want your puppy to come home with some general obedience. Mitch & Cecile will take your puppy home for about 4 weeks to work on the basics (at 9 weeks old).

Advanced training is available and can be discussed directly with the trainer.

A place board is an invaluable training tool for dog owners. It allows owners to teach their dogs to wait patiently at certain locations before continuing on a training activity. With consistent use, place boards help keep dogs calm and focused, while they learn valuable commands such as “sit/stay” and “wait”.

Teething/Biting  
Let us send your puppy home with manners. It's 100% natural for your pup to bite on your pants and hands (like they would their litter mates). We can teach them not to use your hands as a chew toy.

  Crate on Demand
Crating your pup should not seem like a punishment. Get them trained to go to their crate on command.. willingly and stress free. We recommend the Dakota G3 kennels (they really give our pup the den like feeling that a dog is comfortable in.

Our Foundation program is designed to lay out essential building blocks needed to develop your dog into calm, well mannered members of your family.  Beneficial in the field or home, the Foundation is step one in welcoming your new friend.  Your dog will master the following:
1. Recall- this is coming all the way to the handlers hand upon request
2. Loose Lead/Heel- no more pulling on walks!
3. Sit/Stay-  at owners heel and from a distance.
4. Fetch- not just to chase and pick up objects but also to be crisp and retrieve to hand.
5. Place-  essential for calming over stimulated dogs( ex.when guest enter home and they are wanting to jump all around them).  Place training is the key to manageable pets.
6. Kennel-  Dog will enter kennel on verbal command.  Will also be conditioned to enjoy and feel safe inside the kennel.
7. Collar Conditioning-  This option introduces your dog to training collars correctly with little to no stress.  They will be trained to respond to commands through this process and you will be able to enforce commands with simple vibrations at any distance.  A fool proof way to handle your dog!
