Our Vaccination Protocol
Puppies will be kept current on standard vaccination protocol while in my care. I will have a vaccination record with each puppy for your Veterinarian.
Crate Recommendations
You will need a size LARGE crate for an adult Springer Spaniel. Purchase one with an adjustable wall so you aren't purchasing multiple crates. We firmly believe that crate training promotes good behavior and should be part of the raising process.

When you have a deposit submitted you will get to select from the available puppies. If there is not one that you want you will just let your deposit go to the next litter. There is no rush or time limit. I want everyone to get what they want. You will be able to select the puppy you want (I will not tell you which you have to take). I will certainly provide guidance and help however you need. The selection takes place in the order the deposits come in. Which means I cannot guarantee there will be a puppy that you particularly want when it's your turn to select. You may have to wait for the next litter if your wanting a specific color or marking pattern. You will not lose your place in line though. Deposits are 100% non-refundable. It is your responsibility to do some research on the breed requirements before making the decision to own one. Please make sure you understand the needs of an English Springer Spaniel and can provide proper care and attention. This breed is super smart! We recommend training classes for new owners of the breed. Springer Spaniels are one of the most trainable breeds recognized by AKC. With effort and time you will be able to mold them into the perfect family member. In the event that you are not able to care for a dog from my breeding program, I am very much willing to help with re-homing. Sometimes life changes and its not always possible for families to keep a pet. But there is never a reason for one of these amazing animals to end up in a pound. I am only a call away and will help without judgement. PLEASE make sure you understand the breed requirements before getting a Springer. If your not someone with the time and dedication to train an animal then you need to select a different breed... When you get a puppy from me it will be vet checked, current on vaccines and will get routine de-worming's while in my care. All of my dogs are registered with AKC and you will get an application to register your puppy with AKC. I will send you home with a Vaccine record so you know what the next steps are. Typically, I let my puppies leave when they are 8 weeks old unless I feel that they need to stay a little longer. When you pick your puppy up I will have everything in order for you. A folder with your AKC application, a quick 1 pager explaining what the puppies routine is and feeding schedule & written health guarantee. For preparation you will need to have a crate, feed/water dishes and food on hand. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ House Training Tips We understand the need for proper house training. If you either currently own, or are about to buy a dog or puppy, and do not wish to come home to repeated nasty surprises, this brief instructive guide will help you to become successful in house training your dog or puppy. Before I begin, I want to stress the importance of consistency and discipline. Get the whole family involved and make sure everyone is teaching your dog exactly the same way. This is a very straight forward process and anyone can get great results. 1. Always watch your puppy for signs that he needs to eliminate. Things like sniffing around the floor are a sure sign that your puppy is looking for a good spot to go. As you go along you'll start to recognize the signs that your dog needs to go potty. 2. IMMEDIATELY take your dog outside as soon as you see that he needs to eliminate. Also designate a specific place in the yard for him/her to do his business, take him there and repeat a specific command like "Go Potty", until he eliminates. Do not take your dog to different areas of the yard to use the bathroom. One spot used repeatedly will make your trips outside go much faster. Your dog needs to understand that when he goes to the “bathroom spot”, he is to do nothing but eliminate and then move on. 3. As soon as he eliminates, give your dog lots of praise. Say the same thing in a soothing voice over and over. Phrases like “Good Boy” work great. This is positive enforcement and is extremely important to this whole process. We want the dog to understand that when he does what we want him to do, something pleasant will happen. If you are interested in giving your dog a treat, this is the time to reward him. If you are rewarding your dog with treats, do not give him a treat for anything else until you have him potty trained. You may attempt to train your dog to do tricks or something of that nature, but do not offer treats for good behavior while potty training your dog. The treats need to be solely for eliminating in the right spot at the right time. After your pup goes potty, walk him back to the front door on a leash and stop at the entrance... Count to 10, and turn around and let him go back to the potty spot (Trust me, they will potty again. They have tiny bladders, and they probably didn't empty it all the way out the first time). 4. Some people believe that we should also let our dog’s know that every time he does something we don't want him to do, something unpleasant happens. I disagree. If your dog has an accident in the house, do not rub his nose in it or yell at him. A dog does not understand what this means and it will only make your dog afraid of you. It is best to ignore bad behavior and do not pay your dog any attention at all when they do something bad. Why? If your dog thinks that he will get you to pay him some attention when he does something bad, he may do something bad just for the attention. I know this sounds a little nutty but it’s true. Use positive reinforcement and everything will eventually work out. It is ok to say “NO”, but do not scream at the dog. The dog should know that when you say “NO”, it means to stop. If you have to go to work or leave for whatever reason and aren't able to supervise your dog, you need to keep him in a crate inside or an enclosed dog run outside. It is not a good idea to just leave your dog unsupervised outside while you're gone, as this can lead to other problems. I’d like to talk about the crate you choose for your dog. Put your dog in a crate that will give them room to stand up and turn around. That is all the room you will want to allow while potty training. If a puppy has room to designate a corner for the bathroom, he will do so. Puppies do not want to lay down in their mess so only give them enough room to lie down, stand up and turn around. Something important to understand about your dog is that all dogs have a very short term memory. If you come into the kitchen and find a surprise on the floor, and the dog is in the next room, yelling at the dog or bringing him back to the pile is completely useless. The dog will not have a clue as to why you are scolding him. If you choose to say “No No” to your dog, it is critical that you administer the correction immediately after the dog does whatever you don't want him to do. 5. Set up a specific schedule for feeding and watering your dog and stick to it. Take him outside immediately afterwards and go to the designated spot. Keep repeating your "elimination command" until he goes and then praise him. 6.Accidents are going to happen. You might as well get used to that idea now. If the dog eliminates in the crate or dog run while you're away don't give a correction, he/she won't know why you're doing it anyway. Just take him outside and follow the advice in steps 2 and 3 above. Then clean up the crate. A little vinegar in a bottle of warm water helps to eliminate odors. I think I have covered everything. Just remember that you can do this, it just takes dedication and diligence on your part. Sure it's a bit of work, but the benefits far outweigh the trouble you'll have to go thru. You won't have to worry about your floors or furniture being ruined, your dog will know exactly what you expect of him and you'll both be happier as a result. Aside from house training, I can't encourage you enough to get serious with teaching your pup proper behavior from day 1 of bringing him/her home. You're shaping these pups now for what you want them to be as an adult. If you need help we have resources. Springer Spaniels are an amazing breed! Consistency is key for success. Create a schedule and a routine. Everyone in the home needs to mimic the pattern. The most important thing you can/should do it to decide how you’re going to maintain the role as ALPHA. You can’t bring a puppy home and let it run wild with the kids and expect good behaviors. STRUCTURE STRUCTURE STRUCTURE! Do it right in the beginning and you won’t have to figure out how to correct less desirable behaviors later. Allowing them to be in the mindset that they are your equal could result in poor behaviors at some point. This is the case with any breed. You must maintain the role of Alpha. There is nothing wrong with making your Dog earn things. This is how most of us raise our children. Good discipline should equal a reward. The rewards shouldn’t be laying around at the dogs’ disposal. Toys come out when they are earned, and treats are given when deserved. I love dogs… But you cannot allow them to be on your “level”. They need their spaces just as we humans do. You have a bed and they should have their own bed (CRATE TRAINING IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED). I know there are a lot of people who gasp at the thought of putting your dog in a crate… But the reality is that they need their own space. They will learn to love it and go to their space when they need a break from the humans. Your dog doesn’t need to be jumping up and down all night at every noise. At bedtime we sleep... Imagine how cranky you would be not getting your rest every night. Don’t think for a minute this is different for our dogs. Puppy classes are EXCELLENT! If you can attend, then please do so. Make sure to have all vaccines current before starting a public class around other dogs. |
